This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Salary: The salary range indicated in this announcement will be adjusted to include locality payment for selected duty location. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages.
Responsibilities
As a Cyber Operations Officer, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties:
- Assists the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) investigative team in the planning and execution of law enforcement investigative projects
- Provides support in criminal investigations through computer network operations activities, undercover computer network architecture and management, computer forensics, computer network intrusion response and/or computer programming activities
- Works under statutory authority and the legal authority of court orders, search warrants and other legal processes to engage in duties related to investigative support
- Prepares detailed written reports outlining milestones for key stakeholders
- Liaises with local, state, federal, and foreign component partners on cyber related initiatives
Travel Required
Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel for this position.

- Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Performing analysis of computer network events in support of law enforcement investigations
- Supporting criminal investigations by identifying data used in criminal acts
- Utilizing computer forensic tools and techniques for data recovery
- Demonstrating knowledge of computer network systems to include deploying technical solutions
- Preparing written reports to document findings from computer forensic and technical analysis
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Performing detailed analysis of computer network events in support of law enforcement investigations
- Supporting criminal investigations by identifying data used in criminal acts
- Utilizing computer forensic tools and techniques for data recovery
- Demonstrating expert knowledge of computer network systems, including developing and deploying technical solutions
- Preparing detailed written reports to document findings from computer forensic and technical analysis
