Job Description:

Norwich University’s School of Cybersecurity, Data Science, & Computing (CDSC) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with a specialization in digital forensics. This position is to commence fall of 2020, depending on the selected candidate’s availability. This is a tenure-track position, but previously tenured academics will be considered eligible for hire with tenure.

Duties include: teaching required undergraduate courses in digital forensics, course development, student advising, academic service, and research with a focus on digital forensics. Start-up funds and other resources are available to support participation in scholarly endeavors.

The School of CDSC and the cybersecurity program employ innovative teaching practices with undergraduate students having actively contributed to real criminal investigations, up-to-the-minute cyber threat analyses, research, and public and private internships. Program instruction includes forensics of networks, mobile devices, malware, IoT devices, and novel platforms, and active attack and defend scenarios. These opportunities are enhanced and supported by the Norwich University Center for Cybersecurity and Forensics Education & Research (CyFER).


Requirements:

We are seeking a doctorally-prepared, entrepreneurial, and innovative scholar/practitioner to join this strong and growing program in its next evolutionary step.

Experience is required in current digital-forensics practice, or in teaching and publishing in digital forensics (e.g. computers, networks, malware, the cloud, mobile devices, IoT, new platforms, social media, applications, or incident response). 

Preference will be given to candidates with a strong publication record, strong server-room background, or experience in: industry (direct or consulting), chip-off, hardware recovery, software/hardware security & vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, software exploitation, or reverse engineering.

The Computer Security and Information Assurance program is one of the few recognized nationally as both a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (by the National Security Agency), and a Center of Digital Forensics Academic Excellence (by the U.S. Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center). In February of 2014 the Ponemon Institute rated the CSIA program #2 in the nation for cybersecurity education with regard to: academic excellence, practical relevance, experience and expertise of the program faculty, experience and background of the students and alumni, and professional reputation in the cyber security community.
