This vacancy is located in the Investigative Specialist Section (BOI/SID/ISS) in the Office of State Police located in Baton Rouge.
**This position may be filled as a temporary four (4) year job appointment.**

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree plus one year of experience involved in cyber security, cybercrime investigation, or financial crime investigations.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Two years of experience in law enforcement, investigatory work, cybersecurity work, intelligence work, or military intelligence work will substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eighteen years old at time of application.
An applicant will be disqualified if he or she has been convicted of a felony or if there are any indictments or bills of information pending against him or her in which felony charges are included; or if he or she has been convicted within the past three years of hit and run or driving while intoxicated.
A drug screen will be administered prior to employment.
May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Must be able to obtain Federal Government security clearances for access to classified information.

FUNCTION OF WORK:
To serve as a technical subject matter expert in conducting research and investigations in order to identify criminal activities.
LEVEL OF WORK:

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad oversight from lead investigative staff. This may involve direction from a supervisor at a lower pay level.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May exercise functional supervision on a project basis.
LOCATION OF WORK:
The Department of Public Safety and Corrections – Public Safety Services, Office of State Police. Other locations may be approved by SCS.

Differs from other investigative jobs by the presence of responsibility for applying advanced technical techniques in the support of law enforcement activities.Examples of Work
Supports highly sensitive or complex investigations requiring the application of advanced computer forensic techniques, knowledge of complex financial systems, and/or other methodologies of similar technical complexity.
Reviews and analyzes evidence from computers, computer systems, or computer networks.
Provides technical advice on procedures to be employed and offers interpretations and opinions relative to examination of findings.
Supports investigations of multi-defendant conspiracies involving complex financial cybercrimes.
Supports investigations into the illegal laundering of monies derived from criminal enterprises, such as narcotics trafficking.
Provides expert analytical and investigative case support regarding technical financial transactions.
Supports investigations into the illegal network intrusions derived from the compromising of a computer, a computer system or network, or database breach.
Consults on a statewide basis with prosecutors and other law enforcement officials relative to criminal matters being handled directly by their offices; may be assigned to a federal cyber or financial task force with a law enforcement purpose.
Conducts multi-agency meetings with commissioned officers and civilian personnel of law enforcement agencies on methodologies of investigating either financial or cybercrimes.
Assesses new software and hardware technologies; designs processes and may provide technical guidance for the purpose of technology integration into criminal investigative functions.
May provide instruction in the use of new hardware or software for law enforcement purposes.
