Supervisory Criminal Investigator
About the Position: You will serve as the Special Agent-in-Charge of Strategic Initiatives, Computer Crime Investigative Unit (CCIU), and directly supervise assigned criminal investigators. Responsible for the regional management, control, planning, and oversight of criminal investigations involving highly technical computer programs and other advanced technology issues requiring exceptional levels of expertise and knowledge.
- Direct, manage, make assignments and coordinate CCIU missions.
- Conduct criminal investigations involving highly technical computer programs, networks, and other advanced technology issues.
- Develop, coordinate, and issue policies, procedures, and instructions regarding investigative operations.
- Conduct long-range planning in connection with changes in functions and investigative priorities.
- Coordinate the investigative efforts of a large number of specialists and professionals.
- Develop and document standards for measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of investigative operations.
- Provide advice, counsel, and instruction to subordinates and field personnel on work and administrative matters.
- Lead a diverse team of agents and non-agents supporting highly technical strategic initiatives and programs
Occasional travel – Up to 25% business travel is required.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: work that involves planning, developing, and conducting sensitive and complex cyber-crime felony investigations and computer forensic analysis; and experience employing a wide variety of investigative strategies affecting joint investigative task forces with international, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP): LEAP in the amount of 25% has been approved for this position. Applicants must agree to work an average of two hours extra per day to meet the requirements for LEAP as described in 5 U.S.C.5545a(d)(1).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Performance of above duties requires moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that the incumbent may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, glasses permitted, must be acute for reading of printed materials the size of typewritten characters. The ability of incumbent to hear conversational voices and whispered speech is required. Any hearing impairment may be compensated for by use of a hearing aid. Since the duties of the position are exacting, responsible, and involve work performed under arduous and dangerous conditions, you must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition, which would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or to
others, will disqualify him/her.
