Digital Forensic Detective
Description:
Regular, full time position working Monday thru Friday, day shift, subject to change as needed to fulfill unit or agency needs. Position is subject to call-out at all hours of the day including nights, weekends, and holidays. Duties include, but not limited to: Processes and analyzes digital evidence contained within or created by any device or equipment. Responsible for the care, management, storage and retrieval of digital media and digital evidence; analyze and enhance surveillance videos, and photographs relevant to criminal investigations; accountability for research, care, acquisition, maintenance, operation, and training for all specialized technical equipment used for digital forensic analysis and acquisition; provide technical support for specialized criminal investigations.
Position also requires gathering evidence; interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects; preparing and/or executing search/arrest warrants, subpoena requests or other papers related to an investigation as necessary; provide testimony during depositions and/or trials; writing reports on contacts made regarding investigations; and working with other Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies; processing crime scenes, securing and submitting electronic evidence; extensive public speaking to schools, clubs or other civic organizations.
Qualifications:
Position requires current CJSTC law enforcement certification with three years of law enforcement. Applicant should have an excellent working knowledge of computers, digital devices, and the internet. Position requires excellent typing skills and requires the ability to speak in public. Detective experience preferred, but not required.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 19 years of age.
Must be a United States Citizen.
Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent.
Must be Florida State Law Enforcement Certified.
Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
Good moral character as defined in F.A.C. 11B-27.0011.
Must not have been dishonorably discharged from any branch of the United States Military.
Must not have any felony convictions.
Must not have any misdemeanor convictions involving perjury or false statements.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical abilities test (PAT) and physical assessment (see attached description).
Must successfully complete a background investigation including drug testing.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam.
Must not have used, tried, experimented or possessed ANY illegal controlled substance in the past 12 months.
Must not have used, tried, experimented or possessed ANY illegal controlled substance classified as a schedule I or II substance (excluding marijuana) in the last 5 years.
