IT Consultant II, Forensics Desktop
**Not forensic specific. Will be supporting forensic staff**
Job Responsibilities
General Responsibility:
Serve as an IT Consultant II in SLED’s Information Technology Department, for the Forensic Services Desktop Support Unit. Perform day-to-day tasks necessary to ensure continued operation of critical infrastructure leveraged by the Forensics Services department. Responsible for serving as technical lead for SLED Desktop Support in support of the Forensic Services department and being the primary liaison between vendors and other SLED IT teams on projects and infrastructure upgrades.
Specific Duties:
Perform the installation, configuration, upgrade and support of PC desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners and other equipment for Forensic Services. Maintain all documentation as required for designated equipment and IT procedures. Work with other IT teams and vendors as needed to ensure that security and configuration standards are followed. Adhere to access standards and policies set by server, network and security teams when installing and configuring equipment or software.
Perform the installation of desktop, laptop, and tablet computer software. Maintain software with upgrades and troubleshooting. Assist Forensics Services users and vendors with software and data related issues.
Assist with the installation, configuration, upgrade and support of instrument workstations for Forensic Services. Maintain all documentation as required for designated equipment and IT procedures.
Work with vendors and other IT teams as needed to ensure that security and configuration standards are followed. Adhere to access standards and policies set by server, network and security teams when installing and configuring equipment or software.
Assist with the inventory of IT equipment including, but not limited to, desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and scanners.Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 1 year of experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, or processing of information in a data processing environment. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Thorough knowledge of personal computer techniques, procedures, and software configuration.
Must be able to make decisions, think logically, create thorough documentation and coordinate activities with other departments and vendors.
Knowledge of personal computer platforms including laptops, desktops, and tablets is required to successfully maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade hardware and software on SLED equipment.
Good communication skills.
Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds from the floor and some statewide travel, including overnight travel.Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Windows Server, active directory structures, and TCP/IP networking is preferred.Additional Comments
