This position provides complex analytical case support including electronic media analysis and information services within the Department of Justice, DCI and to local law enforcement. Assignments may include any type of criminal investigation including investigating victimization of children. Responsibilities include utilizing forensic software systems, other analytical software and information systems and training and leading others in the use of these systems. Analytical support is for case analysis, tactical response support, strategic analysis, information analysis and law enforcement program support. Duties have a direct impact on DCI and coordination between state, federal and local law enforcement agencies.
Special Notes: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOJ sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Justice will conduct extensive background checks and drug tests on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOJ employees will be fingerprinted.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Travel to other agencies and meetings including court appearances are a requirement. The analyst may be required to participate in searches for the purpose of identifying and seizing evidence, which may expose the individual to dangerous situations. The employee must testify in an effective manner as an expert concerning the examination performed and the results and conclusions drawn. Testifying in an effective manner requires remaining free of Brady or Giglio disclosure obligations.
Minimally qualified candidates must have education, training and/or experience in conducting computer forensic analysis. Experience providing computer forensic analysis advice and assistance to law enforcement agencies is preferred.
Well Qualified Candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Forensics, or an IT field or comparable professional work experience.
